Osceola's Scholarship Award Program
The Osceola Business Association is proud to announce its 2009 Ned Warner Scholarship finalist Holly Barnett.
Holly graduated from Penn High School and is attending the school of nursing at Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne (IPFW).  She is currently a part of the Circle K club at IPFW which is the college level of Kiwanis Club (Key Club), a volunteer group on campus.  It offers her many great opportunities to continue helping in the community such as volunteering at the Ft. Wayne Children's zoo, a local elementary school, making donations and raising funds for great organizations, and helping around campus. She also had the opportunity of becoming the Secretary for this group.  Her involvement in this club afforded her the honor of receiving the IPFW Student Life Office's award for Student Organization Member of the Year.  Holly was the only freshmen to receive this award so when it was announce she was both shocked and amazed!
Holly also ran for, and was elected, Secretary of the IPFW Student Housing Community Council, which is like a Student Council for student housing.  This group started in the fall and put on programs and events for the residents of student housing throughout the school year with the help of the student housing professional staff and the Resident Assistants,(RA). Being a part of this group allowed her to meet many great individuals and let her connect with a new community of people. She believes that her work experience with the staff of student housing led her to be offered the position as RA for the upcoming school year.  She says that she is "...so looking forward to that new experience."
In addition she participated in many other “on campus” programs. She was active in two leadership seminars that went on all semester, one each semester, which she considered to be an amazing learning experience.  She also attended a fall Leadership Retreat that the student Life office offered.  This was an overnight camping trip with activities that helped with leadership and relationship building skills. She was even identified to be in a photo shoot for student housing and student life office advertising.
Holly
feels that IPFW was the perfect university for her to attend and grow.

 Osceola Promotes Education

Every spring the Osceola Business Association awards a scholarship to a deserving local high school senior.  The successful applicant is enrolled to attend full time at an accredited institute of higher learning.  The scholarship is renewable, when we receive a note from the scholar sharing their academic and community experiences, along with documents verifying full time status and a minimum B average.

Our scholars are successful students that become lawyers, teachers, engineers, businessmen, healthcare providers, scientists, and  ministers.
